A detective was in the 2600 block of W. Mercury Blvd. on Tuesday when he saw someone he thought might be about to rob a business.
As the man, whose face was covered and appeared to be carrying a gun, walked toward the E-Z Pick Convenience Store, the detective approached him and he ran, a police news release says. Other officers arrived and found the man after a brief chase.
Police charged Cory Jamal Walker, 21, with attempted robbery, using a gun during a felony and wearing a mask in public, the release says. Walker lives in the first block of Mary Peake Boulevard.
