Manteo, N.C. man pleads guilty to receiving child porn

RALEIGH, N.C.

A Manteo man pleaded guilty to the receipt of child pornography in federal court.

Raymond Keith Fitchett faces up to 20 years in prison with up to five years of supervised release when he is sentenced in May, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of North Carolina said.

A criminal indictment cited in the news release indicates that in March investigators received information that he might be involved in downloading child pornography from an Internet network that was the target of a nationwide Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section investigation named “Operation Gondola.”

His residence was searched on June 22 and agents seized a desktop computer and three DVDs, the news release said. Forensic analysis of those items revealed more than 2,900 images and 165 videos of child pornography that had been downloaded and saved.
