Maury's Jamal Ferguson nominated for McDonald's All American basketball game

Maury senior Jamal Ferguson has been nominated to play in the 2012 McDonald's All-American game.

Ferguson, who signed with Marquette, is one of 600 nominees selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principles and members of the McDonald’s All-American games selection committee.

Ferguson and Kecoughtan's Josh Fortune (Providence) are the only local players to be nominated.

Both players will be recognized Jan. 28 at the Old Dominion-William and Mary game at ODU's Constant Center.

The final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls selected to play in the game will be announced during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show on ESPNU, airing February 9 at 5 p.m. ET.

The 35th annual boys game will be March 28 at Chicago’s United Center and will be broadcast on ESPN.

Last season Norfolk Christian's James Michael McAdoo was named co-MVP of the game. He now plays for North Carolina.
