Norfolk Admirals in the pink at charity game

NORFOLK

Matt Fornataro and Mike Angelidis scored third-period goals to propel the Norfolk Admirals to a 4-2 victory over Conneticut during Pink at the Rink night at Scope on Saturday.

The fifth annual charity game, which benefits the Tidewater chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, drew a crowd of 7,227.

Fornataro scored off assists from Mike Kostka and Cory Conacher at 4:14 to break at 2-2 tie.

Angelidis added an insurance goal at 17:21 off an assist from Alexandre Picard.

Richard Panik scored Norfolk's first two goals, in the first and second periods.

Norfolk (39-22-13-1-2) opens a three-game trip Wednesday at Albany. They're back at home against Charlotte on Jan. 21.

Slighted Again

Every year when the Admirals hold their "Pink-in-the-Rink event, the Pilot's coverage of the event is relegated to just a couple of paragraphs on the bottom of page 7. This is always the largest crowd of the season, the ice is pink, and its a great photo opportunity and a chance to get some decent coverage. All they got was a "staff report".
