Frances Williams, associate professor of engineering at Norfolk State University, is among the 2012 class of Emerging Scholars named by Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine.

Each scholar was selected based on various criteria including research, publishing record, and competitiveness of the field of study, according to a university statement. Williams joins 11 other scholars from the United States and Europe.

“This prestigious national distinction demonstrates the outstanding abilities of Dr. Williams as an exemplary teacher-scholar,” said NSU President Tony Atwater in the statement. “Her national recognition brings pride and distinction to Norfolk State University and Norfolk State’s faculty.”
