Officials declare Virginia Beach house fire suspicious

Posted to: Crime News Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH

Investigators have determined a fire this morning that destroyed an abandoned Creeds home is suspicious.

Dispatch received a report of the fire in the 1500 block of Back Bay Landing Road about 5 a.m., and firefighters responded to find the house engulfed in flames, Battalion Chief Ken Pravetz, a Fire Department spokesman, said this morning. It took until about 6:20 a.m. to get the blaze under control, he said.

Investigators followed-up and determined someone set the fire, although it’s unclear if it was intentional or accidental, Battalion Chief Tim Riley, a Fire Department spokesman, said this afternoon.

The home was abandoned and had no power, Riley said. No one was injured.

Officials are investigating and ask anyone with information to call Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (562-5887) or text “VBTIP” and the information to CRIMES (274637).
