A Pasquotank County woman was killed Thursday evening when she lost control of her car rounding a curve on Peartree Road.
At about 10 p.m., Jacqualine Crutch, 31, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and hit the ditch on the opposite side of the road near the intersection of Peartree Road and Sandfiddler Drive, said Trooper D.M. Banks of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
A narrow, two-lane road, Peartree Road has a speed limit of 55 mph. The car left about 300 feet of skid marks before flipping and sliding 61 feet on its top, he said. Crutch was not wearing a seatbelt, Banks said, and her car was traveling at 70 mph. There was no evidence of alcohol.
