No one is asking any of you for money. Last time I checked, it's their special day and their money to do with as they please. Why would you be so negative?

Extravagant Weddings Are So Passe
Okay, at 64 I will admit I am cynical, but come on, is there anything on the planet, with the possible exception of exorbitant funerals, that is more ridiculous than fancy weddings? First off, the divorce rate alone should make shelling out hundreds of dollars on a silly white gown in addition to hundreds (thousands) more on flowers, food, drinks, tuxedo's, music, hall, church, candles, invitations,...oh, I am feeling nauseous just thinking about it. Please, for the love of all that is holy, women, take the money you would get for a wedding (Dad or your own money) and buy yourself a home or invest in gold or feed the hungry or invest in a retirement fund.
I agree, and to add insult
I agree, and to add insult to injury after shelling out thousands of dollars for a party for friends and family, you end up with a bunch of cheap gifts not worth returning to the store. Had I known how cheap everyone was, I would have made it a BYOB, no other gifts please.
