NORFOLK

The destroyer Arleigh Burke deployed Monday on a counterpiracy mission.

The ship is the namesake for the first class of destroyers equipped with Aegis weapons systems. It is led by Cmdr. Corey Keniston.

Last fall, the ship participated in Joint Warrior 11-2, a series of training exercises in Scotland and Mayport, Fla.
