Police: Driver fled N.C. officers, caused Chesapeake crash

CHESAPEAKE

A driver fleeing police in Currituck County, N.C. was caught in Chesapeake this morning after he crashed into another car, police said.

Alan Drewery, 47, fled Currituck police after officers tried to stop him for reckless driving and possible driving under the influence, according to a Chesapeake police news release.

After continuing into Chesapeake on the Route 168 bypass, Drewery, of Vienna, Va., collided with another car, causing it to flip. The victim did not sustain any injuries, according to the news release.

Chesapeake police later apprehended Drewery on the bypass.

Drewery faces charges of felony eluding and possibly driving under the influence in Chesapeake. The release said he could also face charges in Currituck County.
