STREET RESURFACING
Main Street – Beginning Monday, Main Street from Boush Street to Saint Paul’s Boulevard will be under Norfolk Police control during daytime hours while crosswalks are replaced. In support of this work, parking will periodically be removed as sections of Main Street will be closed on block at a time (heading west to east) and motorists will be detoured to adjacent streets. The road will be milled and paved immediately following crosswalk replacement, weather permitting.
DOWNTOWN
Downtown Streets – Through mid-January, watch for intermittent alternating lane closures under flagger control between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for maintenance work in manholes by Dominion Power. Affected streets are: 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Saint Paul’s Boulevard, the 300 block of Market Street, the 300 block of Cumberland Street, the 300 block of Charlotte Street, and the 400 and 500 blocks of Bute Street.
Atlantic Street – Through early January, Atlantic Avenue will be closed from Plume Street to just before the parking garage entrance heading south for storm drainage work.
Bank Street – Through September, the sidewalk and bus parking lane northbound on Bank Street between East Plume Street and East City Hall Avenue will be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the westbound sidewalk and tour buses will be detoured to East City Hall Avenue. A parking lane northbound on Bank Street between East Main Street and East Plume Street will also be closed intermittently for dump truck staging for building demolition.
Bank Street – Through early March, the sidewalk and parking lane on the west side of Bank Street between Freemason Street and Charlotte Street will be closed.
Hampton Roads Transit Light Rail – Intermittent traffic stoppages and delays may occur along the light rail route for maintenance through mid-February.

East Plume Street – Look for sidewalk and parking lanes to be closed along Plume Street between Atlantic Street and Bank Street through the end of January for storm drain installation.
East Plume Street—Through June, the sidewalk on East Plume Street westbound between Court Street and Bank Street will be closed. Pedestrians will be detoured to the eastbound sidewalk on the south side of East Plume Street. Access to MacArthur Memorial will be maintained.
CITYWIDE
36th Street –Through mid-July, 36th Street between Colley Avenue and Newport Avenue will be closed for utility work.
38th Street – Beginning Wednesday, January 4, 38th Street will be completely closed to westbound traffic from Granby Street to Omohundro Avenue. Motorists should use Delaware Avenue and 35th Street as alternate routes.
East Bayview Boulevard – Flaggers will maintain traffic on East Bayview Boulevard between Inlet Road and Cape View Avenue for aerial work through mid-February.
West Bayview Boulevard – Through late December, West Bayview Boulevard will be under flagger operation at I-64 for VDOT bridge painting.
East Brambleton Avenue – Lane closures eastbound will take place on East Brambleton Avenue between Saint Paul’s Boulevard and Church Street through the end of December for utility work.
East Brambleton Avenue – Through early February, watch as the eastbound curb lane of East Brambleton Avenue between Church Street and Tidewater Drive will close for curb and gutter replacement.
East Brambleton Avenue – Watch for alternating lane closures through the end of March on East Brambleton Avenue at the I-264 underpass for bridge painting. Work will take place Monday to Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights 7 p.m. to noon and Sundays 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
West Brambleton Avenue – The vehicle lane and sidewalk at the southwest corner of West Brambleton Avenue at Colley Avenue will be closed intermittently through the end of January for street light installation.
Corporate Boulevard – Through the end of January, there will be single lane closures on Corporate Boulevard between Curlew Drive and Military Highway for aerial cable installation.
Denver Avenue – Through early January, Denver Avenue between Rush Avenue and Kennon Avenue will be closed for Phase II of the Coleman Place Drainage Improvement project.
Diven Street – Traffic on Diven Street at Hedgewood Lane will be under flagger control through late January for utility work.
Ethel Avenue – Through the end of April, Vehicle travel lanes and sidewalk of Ethel Avenue will be closed for utility work. Vehicular and pedestrian detours will be posted accordingly. Flaggers will be used as needed.
1st View Street – Through mid-April, there will be full street closures to through traffic of 1st View Street between Bearden Road and Tidewater Drive for the First View Street Water and Sewer Replacement Project. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained
Gosnold Avenue – Through early-July, the intersection of 36th Street and Gosnold Avenue will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street – Watch for alternating lane closures north and southbound on Granby Street between East Princess Anne Road and East 13th Street for utility work.
Granby Street – Through early January, watch for alternating lane closures on Brambleton Avenue, Granby Street, and Magazine Lane as needed for installation of traffic control signs and devices.
Granby Street – Through early January, the vehicle lane and sidewalk of Granby Street between Granby Park and Suburban Parkway will be closed for transformer installation.
Granby Street – Through mid-January, the outside southbound lane between Suburban Parkway and North Shore Road will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street – Through late January, the outside northbound lane between East 22nd Street and East 24th Street will be closed for utility work.
Granby Street— Through late February, two vehicle travel lanes in the same direction will be closed on Granby Street over Mason Creek between Bayview Boulevard and Forest Lawn Cemetery for a phase of the Mason Creek Culvert Rehabilitation project. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.
Hampton Boulevard – Through late January, one travel lane of northbound Hampton Boulevard between 25th Street and 35th Street will be closed for curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement.
Hampton Boulevard – A northbound lane and sidewalk of Hampton Boulevard between Helena Avenue and West Little Creek road will be closed for utility work through early February.
East Indian River Road – Through late January, the outside westbound lane of East Indian River Road between Berkley Avenue and Lansing Street will be closed for aerial installation.
West Little Creek Road – Through the end of January, the outside eastbound lane and sidewalk of West Little Creek road between Tapley Avenue and Diven Street will be closed for street light installation.
South Military Highway – Through the end of January, there will be alternating northbound and southbound lane closures on South Military Highway between the bridge and Corporate Boulevard for aerial cable installation.
West Ocean View Avenue – Through mid-January, the vehicle lane and sidewalk of West Ocean View Avenue between 1st View and Mason Creek Road will be closed for improvements.
Park Avenue – Through the end of January, traffic will be under flagger control on Park Avenue from Holt Street heading west as street lights are installed in the parking lot under I-264.
Southampton Avenue – Through mid-January, Southampton Avenue will be one-way westbound between Colley Avenue and Riverview Avenue during a utility and streetscape upgrade project. Detailed signs will be posted.
State Street – Through early January, the shoulder of State Street between 324 and Emmett Place will be closed for site improvements.
Tidewater Drive – Beginning December 30 through the end of January, there will be single alternating lane closures in both directions on Tidewater Drive between Goff Street and I-264 for roadway repairs.
Tidewater Drive - Beginning Monday, January 9 through early February, Tidewater Drive between Columbia Lane and Alsace Avenue will be reduced to one lane northbound during the day and two lanes will remain open overnight.
East Virginia Beach Boulevard – Through early January, the inside lane of East Virginia Beach Boulevard between Covenant Street and Marathon Avenue will be closed for utility work. .
East Virginia Beach Boulevard – watch for alternating west and eastbound lane closures on the north side of East Virginia Beach Boulevard between Ripplemead Avenue and Briar Hill through early January for utility work.
East Virginia Beach Boulevard – Through the end of January, watch for alternating lane closures on East Virginia Beach Boulevard between Layton Street and North Newtown Road for utility work.
Wesleyan Drive – Through the end of January, lane closures along Wesleyan Drive east of Northampton Boulevard will occur for utility work.
