Schottenheimer, Bucs talk in Naples, Fla.

Posted to: Sports UFL Destroyers

Marty Schottenheimer confirmed that he was to interview in Naples, Fla., on Tuesday to become head coach of the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday afternoon in Naples, Fla.

The 68-year-old Schottenheimer is sixth in NFL history with 200 regular-season coaching victories, but he hasn't coached in the NFL since 2006 with the San Diego Chargers. He was fired despite compiling a 14-2 record, the Chargers' record for victories in a season, but losing in the AFC Divisional playoffs to the New England Patriots.

Schottenheimer returned to coaching, however, last fall in the United Football League and coached the Virginia Destroyers, who played in Virginia Beach, to the championship.

Schottenheimer said he was to discuss the job with Bucs’ co-chairman Joel Glazer and general manager Mark Dominik. The Bucs went 4-12 this season and fired 35-year-old Raheem Morris, who coached for three years.

"It’s been a while” since his last NFL interview, Schottenheimer said. “I’m looking forward to it, though. I want to visit with them to hear what’s being said and to see what they have in mind. I’m flattered that they’re expressing an interest.”

I

know he went to interview, but he would never give up a dream job of the destroyers, so don't worry he will stay, destroyers will win all games and pretty soon they will compete with the nfl, heck they will put nfl out of business haha

One of Daniel Snyder's Blunders

was firing Marty. He was on the way to building the Skins into a winning program.

Just one of many. Good luck to him.

Almost time for the Redsins to get a new coach

Marty is a very good coach, but I don't think the Va Destroyers has much to worry about this time around. Coaches come and go in the NFL,but I think now days owners and GM's want more for their money. Yes, Marty in 2006 did have a 14-2 record with the Chargers in a season, but losing the AFC playoffs got him fired. I'll put my money on Mike Sherman as the new coach, Sorry Marty.
