Police are looking for a thief who stole several air conditioning units over the last two weeks.
On Dec. 30, surveillance footage from the Credit Max store showed a thief taking a unit from the business at 402 Carolina Road. According to a news release, the thief might have been using a 1998-2001 white Ford Ranger with an extended cab.
The following week, police received a report that a citizen saw an air conditioning unit fall out of the back of a silver or gray pickup truck in the 200 block of E. Washington Street. When officers searched the area, they found the unit, which had been stolen from the China Village restaurant at 217 E. Washington St. The air conditioning unit was returned to the business.
A third unit was reported stolen from Jackson Real Estate, at 415 Market St., on Jan. 6.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up. When calling Crime Line, callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
