Two charged in Hampton shooting

HAMPTON

Police have charged two men in a shooting Tuesday in the 300 block of South Back River Road.

Kemar Regalo White, 24, and Larry Devon Scott, 22, both were charged with aggravated malicious wounding and using a gun during a felony, police wrote in a news release. White lives in the 300 block of Mary St. and Scott lives in the first block of Reynolds Drive. They are being held in jail.

Police said they were called shortly after 2 p.m. to the location after several calls about shots being fired. While officers were on their way, dispatchers updated the call to a shooting.

When they arrived, they found a 24-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a hospital and listed as stable.

Police said a group of people were arguing in the parking lot of Sara’s Mart when someone pulled out a gun and two groups of people exchanged gunfire.

Another man, who was one of the people charged, was shot in the lower back and sought treatment later at a hospital, the release says.
