Virginia Republicans to revisit loyalty oath

Posted to: Elections News Politics Virginia

Virginia Republicans will reconsider whether to make voters pledge loyalty to the eventual GOP nominee before participating in the March 6 presidential primary, a decision that has rankled many in the party.

The topic will be the subject of a Jan. 21 meeting of the Virginia GOP's Central Committee, state party chairman Pat Mullins announced on Facebook. While the response has prompted a closer examination of the loyalty oath decision, Mullins wrote that the broader issue is "we need party registration in Virginia" to prevent Democrats from meddling in Republican contests.

Party officials said they've heard significant feedback from voters since late last month when the State Board of Elections approved their request to require voters to sign a pledge at the polls.

Del. Bob Marshall was among those who called on the party to rescind plans for a loyalty oath.

Marshall made more news Tuesday when he told the Washington Examiner he is seriously considering a run for U.S. Senate this year - the Prince William County Republican unsuccessfully sought the party's Senate nomination in 2008.

Oaths! Yes!

I can think of several choice oaths I could utter to these people who put their ideology above their country. Unfortunately the editors here would not only delete them, but would probably ban me forever!

OATHS! YES!

That was seriously funny and shed more light than heat, Anonymous.
Raising party above party principle is obviously and invitation to corruption of purpose.
People disengage when that happens.
That makes a-loyalty-to-party oath BAD POLICY.

Re: Primary Election & 'operation chaos' hygiene
That makes a-loyalty-to-party-PRINCIPLE oath GOOD POLICY.
The RPVa creed if polished up a bit and combined with duty under the duly-authorized-law as it currently exists could serve to galvanize citizen enthusiasm for the Republican Party and galvanize RP electeds against failures of purpose and action (such as are common to all humans w/o good neighborhood watch).

combined with duty under existing duly-authorized-law

I, _______,  as a member of the Republican Party in the Virginia,  affirm that I will bear true faith and allegianceto my Constitution of the United States, and Virginia; and to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend those constitutions against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

I will diligently perform my `hue & cry' duty defined in the United States Code 18USC4, `Misprision of Felony' ; such that crimes arising from alienation shall become scarce, particularly, that felony against MY Constitution and its duly authorized law known as US "Frauds & Swindles" effected by "Resisting the execution of the laws under the color of its authority", defined in as "Virginia Statutory Treason”.

Every Member Republican Creed & Oath: Utility

Republicans:
We need to actively recruit members to the Republican party. To this end an oath/affirmation by EVERY member of the Republican party to support republican principle and the constitutionally republican rule-of-law would be useful in establishing party honor, unity and diligent enthusiasm:

“I, _______, believe, as do all true members of the Republican Party :
1) That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice, That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society, (Tea Party Free Markets core value)
2) That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all

Except for:

"That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society, except in the case of sexual orientation, marriage selection, adoption rules, and any other so-called "moral" activities.

Except For:

truthseeker, You are not the only person finding a few rough edges in the wording of RPVa Creed statement #1.
In the context of tuning the RPVa creed for multi-state adoption this was discussed yesterday on http://newworldwarriors.ning.com/ .
How does this wording tweek set with you: "1) That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice, That all individuals are have intrinsic rights and are guaranteed equal protection, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society,"
?

"That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation.”

Modify to "That the right to profess one's faith in the God of our own beliefs, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation.”

Will you buy that?

Remember "Operation Chaos" courtesy of Rush Limbaugh?

This was a campaign to get Republicans to vote for Hillary Clinton in Democratic primaries in order to defeat Obama.

I guess this is what the GOP is nervous about.

The question is, who do you pick that wouldn't lose to Obama?

Picking the worst elephant in the GOP circus is akin to picking the best horse in the glue factory.
