The Art of Fencing
NO NET, NO BALL. Just a sword and a cord and a different kind of scoring. Fencing schools can be found in European historical records dating back to the 12th century. Tidewater Fencing Club dates back to 1972. The club meets, teaches, and fences inside the Batten Center at Virginia Wesleyan College.
When I stepped into the gym, I heard the quick sound of metal blades sliding across one another. It's a combat sport, but Ellie Ross says “you will get over the fear of being stabbed.”
