Brady's wife rips Patriots receivers; NFL, NBC rip each other for obscene gesture
Posted to: NFL Super Bowl

New England quarterback Tom Brady's wife, who had asked for positive energy and prayer before the Super Bowl, apparently had none left after the Patriots' 21-17 loss to the New York Giants.
Gisele Bundchen became bitter in defeat.
After Sunday's game, Bundchen passed some taunting fans who yelled "Eli rules! Eli rules your husband!" They were referring to Giants quarterback Eli Manning. Brady was not with her at the time.
According to The Insider, this was her reply, which included an expletive: "My husband can not ... throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."
Neither could the Patriots. But Bundchen's barbs couldn't hurt wide receiver Wes Welker any more than he was punishing himself.
On a second-and-11 with four minutes left in the game and New England leading 17-15, the sure-handed receiver was at the Giants' 23-yard line with a chance to score.
The ball went off his hands.
"It's one of those plays I've made 1,000 times," Welker said, according to The Associated Press.
"It comes to the biggest moment of my life, and (I) don't come up with it. Most critical situation, and I let the team down."
At least Welker has his fiancee to offer support.
Brady (despite his pal earlier in the week spilling the beans about his fancy toilet) also was supportive: "I'll keep throwing the ball to him for as long as I possibly can. He's a phenomenal player and teammate. I love that guy."
And as for his wife? As this tweet from Jason McIntyre @TheBigLead says, "Tom Brady: 3 Super Bowl wins pre-Gisele. 0 Super Bowl wins with Gisele."
With two losses, we might add.

Finger malfunction? The NFL and NBC blamed each other for letting British hip-hop artist M.I.A.’s obscene halftime gesture get on the air, The Associated Press reports.

The NFL says NBC wasn't quick enough to censor it. NBC says the NFL is responsible for the content of the halftime show.
In front of some 110 million viewers on NBC and uncounted others online, she raised her middle finger and appeared to utter a profanity.
“The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing and we apologize to our fans,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. M.I.A. had not done anything similar during rehearsals, he said, and the league had no reason to believe she would do that.
The screen was blurred after M.I.A.’s gesture in a late attempt — by less than a second — to cut out the camera shot. (Note to readers: We've digitally blurred the image at left.)
“The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC spokesman Christopher McCloskey said. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”
On Monday morning, host Gretchen Carlson on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” urged M.I.A. to “get a life.” Culture vulture Perez Hilton tweeted: “Think she’ll ever be invited on live TV again?”
