Chesapeake street to reopen after barricade situation

CHESAPEAKE

A 34-year-old man surrendered to police after barricading himself inside a residence in the 100 block of Country Club Blvd.

The incident occurred about 12:15 p.m. and Jeremy Breeden remained inside the home for nearly two hours, a news release from Chesapeake police said.

Breeden was taken into custody by Chesapeake Police SWAT officers at about 1:50 p.m. without incident. He was taken to the Chesapeake City Jail.

He was being arrested on charges of abduction and assault. Police did not give details about the circumstances that led to the barricade situation.

Country Club Boulevard was closed and residents were asked to stay inside during the incident. Shortly after 2 p.m., police said the road should reopen shortly.
