The Department of Motor Vehicles resumed its online and telephone transactions shortly before 2 p.m. today after an overnight outage prevented any transactions from being processed this morning.
The outage began about 5 p.m. Tuesday, said Melanie Stokes, DMV spokeswoman. Customers were able to start transactions, but were not able to pay at end of the process.
The cause was pinpointed to a problem with a database that caused the system to go down, Stokes said. Preventive measures now are in place to prevent the problem from happening again.
