Ex-senator Houck (D) considering LG bid

Former state Sen. Edward "Edd" Houck's next act in Virginia politics might be a statewide run for office.

The Spotsylvania County Democrat -- he lost his state Senate seat last November -- is the subject of a Facebook page touting him as a candidate for lieutenant governor.

In Richmond Wednesday to tout a new biopharmaceutical coalition, Houck said he is aware of the page but is not directly involved in its promotion.

Houck said he recently learned of the Web site through co-workers.

Asked if he's mulling a run, Houck said it "is interesting to think about," before adding "I’m not sure it’s something that I want to pursue at this moment.

Houck said he isn't ruling out a run for lieutenant governor and isn't presently considering a run for another statewide office.
