Gas line rupture in Norfolk under control

NORFOLK

Colonial Avenue between Graydon and Raleigh avenues was expected to reopen tonight after a gas line rupture.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue closed the road shortly before 3:30 p.m., said Battalion Chief Harry Worley, a spokesman. Virginia Natural Gas crews had secured the leak at the intersection of Colonial and Westover avenues by about 8:30 p.m. Colonial Ave. was expected to reopen after all equipment was out of the way.

There were no evacuations as a result of the gas line rupture.
