The eatery George's Restaurant, 107 S. Witchduck Road, 687-8492, www.letseat.at/georgesrestaurantvb

Why I liked it This small, old-school breakfast-and-lunch eatery, tucked in a featureless line of shops off Witchduck Road near Interstate 264, offers an assortment of classic dishes with a Greek diner slant.

A bevy of breakfast items, which are served all day, includes a variety of omelets.

Taking a cue from various advertisements in the dining room for gyros, as well as a large section of the menu devoted to the sandwich, I picked the Greek Omelet with gyro meat added. Shortly, a large platter with a golden three-egg omelet arrived, with large amounts of feta cheese, diced tomato and gyro meat peeking from the folds.

The dish was delicious; the omelet was cooked very well and was not greasy - it served as a tasty platform for the nutty, creamy feta and herb-seasoned meat. Along with the omelet, the plate came with a choice of starch (I picked the home fries) and bread (I selected rye toast.) Of special note were the potatoes; hand cut and cooked on the flattop in house.
