Grassfield, King's Fork to meet in final

Grassfield 52, Western Branch 49

Dericka Sims hit 3 of 4 free throws late in the fourth quarter to seal the Grizzlies' (19-4) come-from-behind victory over the Bruins (15-9).

Grassfield will play host King's Fork in the final at 6 p.m. Friday.

Sims finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Nola Anderson scored 16 of her 17 in the second half.

Grassfield, which trailed 32-19 at halftime, outscored the Bruins 33-17 in the second half. The Grizzlies also shot 18 for 25 from the foul line.

"We made some hustle plays at the end of the game that solidified a big win for us," Grassfield coach Mike Hyman said.

Shanese Harris led the Bruins with 17 points. Da'Lishia Griffin added 14 before fouling out.

King's Fork 63, Indian River 50

Delisia Sharpe scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat the Braves (14-10).

Khadedra Croker chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks for King's Fork.

The Bulldogs (20-2), who led 34-27 at halftime, pulled away with a 20-9 run in the fourth quarter.

Beach District semifinals

Salem 52, First Colonial 42

Areana Davis scored a game-high 13 points, Tyshara Fleming grabbed 14 rebounds and the SunDevils (24-0) survived despite suffering a couple key injuries.

Alliyah Floyd, who finished with just two points, took an elbow to the ribs. Davis, who made four free throws in the fourth quarter, tweaked an ankle.

Both should be ready for Friday's final, Salem coach Tim Carr said. The SunDevils play Princess Anne at 5:45 p.m. at Ocean Lakes.

Salem led First Colonial 28-10 at the break, but the Patriots (14-10) outscored the SunDevils 19-11 in the third quarter to pull within 10.

Princess Anne 64, Landstown 21

Chandace Golden recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Cavaliers (21-2) defeated the Eagles (16-8).

Princess Anne also received contributions from Morgan Cooper (12 points, nine rebounds) and Alexis Platt (seven points, 11 rebounds).

Eastern District semifinal

Maury 54, Wilson 37

Gianna Smith (11), Jayda Luckie (11), Chanette Hicks (10) and Kayla Airaghi (10) scored in double figures, and the Commodores beat the Presidents.

Maury held Wilson's leading scorer, Monnazjea Finney-Smith (16.1 ppg), to eight points.

The Commodores play top-seed Lake Taylor in a 5:45 p.m. final Friday at Churchland.

Boys basketball

Eastern District semifinal

Norcom 75, Maury 70

Devin Patterson (23) and Malique Trent (19) totaled 42 points for the Greyhounds (15-9), who play Norview in Friday's 7:30 p.m. final at Churchland.

Trent made five 3-pointers, and Patterson scored seven fourth-quarter points.

Jamal Ferguson paced Maury (16-6) with 30 points.
