HARRISONBURG, Va.

Jamelle Hagins scored a career-high 23 points while grabbing 18 rebounds, and sophomore guard Devon Saddler added 22 points as Delaware defeated James Madison 85-80 on Saturday in a Colonial Athletic Association game.

Hagins' double-double was his 12th this season for the Blue Hens (11-12, 7-6), and his rebound total was one shy of his career best.

Delaware never trailed, although the Dukes (10-15, 3-10), who got 30 points from A.J. Davis, cut an 11-point first-half deficit to 1 point, 53-52, with 13:34 remaining.

The Blue Hens quickly built their lead back to 10 points, 62-52, but James Madison whittled it down to one again, 68-67, with 5:25 left.

Jarvis Threatt responded with a 3-point play for Delaware and added six more free throws down the stretch.

Threatt finished with 14 points and Kyle Anderson 13 for the Blue Hens.

Humpty Hitchens scored 17 and Devon Moore 16 for James Madison.
