Inspection changes Ocracoke ferry schedule today

Posted to: News Traffic - Transportation North Carolina

OCRACOKE, N.C.

Two ferry departures on the Cedar Island-Ocracoke route will be skipped today.

A scheduled inspection is due for the motor vessel Carteret, so a 10 a.m. departure from Cedar Island and a 1 p.m. departure from Ocracoke have been canceled. The 7:30 a.m. departure from Ocracoke and the 4:30 p.m. departure from Cedar Island will still take place, a news release from Hyde County said.

The schedule change is so that the U.S. Coast Guard will be able to inspect the Carteret so that it may continue operating.

More information about the ferry schedule and updates are available by calling 800-293-3779 (BY-FERRY) and pressing option one. Updates are also available on Twitter by following @NCDOT_Ferry.
