NEW YORK
After three days of controversy, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast-cancer charity says it is reversing its decision to cut breast-screening grants to Planned Parenthood.
"We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives," a Komen statement said.
As first reported by The Associated Press on Tuesday, Komen had adopted criteria excluding Planned Parenthood from grants because it was under government investigation, notably a probe launched in Congress at the urging of anti-abortion groups.
Komen said Friday it would change the criteria so it wouldn't apply to such investigations.
"We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants," the statement said.

The Komen group has at their helm many GOPT politicos...
... who are anti abortion. "Komen last year hired Karen Handel, former GA anti-choice guvnha candidate & Sarah Palin acolyte who promised as part of her platform to defund PP& other vital health services. Handel, who lost her race, is now senior VP for policy at Komen. She was originally endorsed in her race by & received $$$ from current GOP pres contender Romney, with whom some sources suggest she remains closely allied. Romney, in turn, has suddenly become more anti-choice & has promised a fed personhood amendment as well as to defund PP."
Komen made a recent policy change to not contribute to agencies under investigation. Shortly after, GOP started investigation of PP. Perfect orchestration. Lots of politics & politicians at Komen.
and PP is non political
Oh please! It's political on both sides.
Mike, please demonstrate how PP is acting politically ...
... in this matter like i have demonstrated how Komen is. Thanks.
A loss for the anti women Republicans
This is a loss for the anti women, anti health care Republicans. Republicans want everyone to have guns, and no one to have health care.
Susan B Komen grants
The mainstream finally spoke up and caused some positive change. Politics has no place in medicine. The defense put forward by the Komen people was totally lame, especially when the background to it emerged. So now if we could just do something about the Virginia legislature meddling where it doesn't belong. Talk about the nanny state!

What heinous threats?
That the vast majority who work for and give to their cause would stop?
Fishy
Something doesn't pass the smell test here. Various comments on various forums over the past couple of days of folks that stopped donating to Komen because of this and switched to Planned Parenthood and other who restarted donating to Komen because of this.
I don't donate to Komen because of their propensity to sue other organizations for using the word "cure." I stopped supporting PP 14 years ago when I was pregnant and had no insurance and they turned me away, not only that but they didn't even let me past the speaker on the locked door.
That says a lot
"I was pregnant and had no insurance and they turned me away" That is heartless and cold, and says a lot about the organization. I guess you did not fit their target demographic (what ever that may be)
I'm guess this was a arch
I'm guess this was a arch partisan creative writing exercise and nothing more. It does not pass the smell test
