Lottery scratch ticket worth $250,000 for Hampton man

Posted to: Hampton News

HAMPTON

A Hampton man won $250,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Red Hot 5s Doubler game.

Marcellus Gray knew he had won a large prize, but he didn’t realize he had won the scratch ticket game’s top prize, a lottery news release says. He told lottery officials he has no immediate plans for his winnings.

When they asked him how he felt, he replied, “I’ve got a grin from ear to ear!” the release says.

He bought the ticket at Green City Supermarket at 2001 25th St. in Newport News.

Prizes in the game range from $5 to the $250,000 top prize. Gray is the first person to claim the top jackpot, leaving four others unclaimed.
