Christopher Alan Sell pleaded guilty Tuesday to four charges stemming from an Oct. 1 car crash in Pungo that left a passenger dead.
Sell, 19, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, DUI, underage possession of alcohol and possessing a fictitious license, according to the Virginia Beach commonwealth's attorney's office.
On Sept. 30, Sell, William L. Keipe and two others went to the Kelly's Tavern on General Booth Boulevard and the Diesel Rock 'N' Country Bar on Oceana Boulevard, according to a stipulation of evidence. Sell presented a fake driver's license and paid for drinks with his credit card.
They later went to a 7-Eleven. After leaving, Sell, who was driving, ran off a curve in the 3700 block of West Neck Road and into a ditch. He crashed into several trees, tearing the roof off his 2000 Nissan Xterra, around 1:10 a.m. Saturday.
A front-seat passenger sustained broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Keipe, 19, who was in the rear passenger-side seat, was killed. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Sell suffered minor injuries.
He will be sentenced May 21.
