A 25-year-old man who escaped from the Newport News City Farm this morning was back in police custody after he turned himself in at about 8 p.m.
Correctional officers discovered Curtis Brandon Cordle had escaped about 9:15 a.m. and immediately locked down the facility, a news release from the city of Newport News said. Cordle arrived at the city farm on Wednesday. A search of the prison ground and adjacent areas was conducted, but Cordle was not found.
Cordle was being held in the Newport News City Jail.
