Manteo man charged with attempting to make meth

MANTEO

A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with the attempted manufacture of methamphetamine inside a motel room.

David Allen Blouir Sr. of Manteo was being held in the Dare County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond, a news release from the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said.

The arrest occurred Wednesday after North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation agents and deputies with the sheriff’s narcotics unit conducted surveillance. Deputies decided to make an arrest for the attempted manufacture as a safety precaution, the news release said. The sheriff's office did not say where the motel was located.

Three people were charged with manufacture of methamphetamine inside a Kill Devil Hills motel room on Feb. 1.

In both cases, investigators said “one pot” or “shake and bake” methods were used. These methods are less elaborate because the ingredients are mixed in one small, easily-transportable container, such as a two-liter soda bottle. The Sheriff’s Office warned that while being mixed, the container could explode and after the meth is made, the emptied container could still contain toxic, hazardous materials.
