First Colonial 59, Kellam 47

Freshman Ladeja James poured in 37 points - making 20 of 22 free throws - as the Patriots pulled away in a tournament opener Monday night.

James was 13 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

"I would have thought they'd try to foul someone else," First Colonial coach Larry Bowman said, "but we did a good job of keeping the ball in her hands."

The Patriots play Salem at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in a district semifinal at Ocean Lakes. All semifinalists have Eastern Region tournament berths.

Landstown 33, Ocean Lakes 31

The Eagles' Gabby Swinson hit two free throws with 31.6 seconds left to break a 31-31 tie. Ocean Lakes missed two shots in the final 10 seconds.

Landstown plays Princess Anne at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ocean Lakes.

Princess Anne 88, Kempsville 30

The Cavaliers scored 14 of the game's first 15 points, and Galaisha Goodhope finished with 18 points and five assists.

Chandace Golden added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Salem 67, Tallwood 40

Shaleise Boyd had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the unbeaten SunDevils.

King's Fork 59, Indian River 46

Zach Johnson had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs, who earned an Eastern Region berth and host Nansemond River in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Western Branch 63, Oscar Smith 53

Jashad Jamison's dunk sparked the Bruins to a late spurt, and Rashon Woody finished with 20 points and Demonte Burns added 18.

The Bruins secured a region bid and play Great Bridge in a district semifinal at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at King's Fork.
