The North Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld a judge's ruling that ordered a state trooper who was fired for kicking his dog to be reinstated with back pay.
The court ruled today that Wake County Superior Court Judge James Hardin was correct when he determined two years ago that the Highway Patrol improperly fired Sgt. Charles Jones.
Jones was dismissed in 2007 on the orders of then-Gov. Mike Easley after video clips surfaced showing the trooper hoisting his canine partner off the ground and kicking him five times.
Hardin ruled that Jones' actions were no worse than the Highway Patrol's accepted methods of training dogs for police service.
Officials at the state Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

My comment, third from the bottom and first post on this subject, was removed because it was deemed "obsene or vulgur", of which it was neither. It said "This p.o.s. cop kicks dogs. People will not be far behind. This demonstrates to me an unstable individual not fit to be on the force. He should be terminated, and so should the judge" . After 16 thumbs up, the censors decided it was "vulgur or obsene". The deal is, they don't know what I meant by p.o.s., they made an assumption, and they were wrong. You know what happens when you assume. If they think this blog is "rough", they need to come on up to the big guys on the national level.

What would have happened to a civilian doing the same to a dog under the pretense of "training" it?
The fix is in. The judge was ordered to rule in favor of the cop. Our justice system is beyond being a joke now.
N.C officer who picked his partner up and kicked him.
I feel the judge was wrong letting the officer come back to the force. I like to pick him up by the neck and kick him right in the head 5 times. Another thing white are not the only racist people in Va. Michael Vick got caught in Va fighting Pits and killing them. He should never b allowed to own another dog in his life. Anybody that fights and kills dogs or any pet should never should b allowed to own one.

I have been involved with training dogs for many years and this is the first time I have ever heard of kicking a dog as a part of the process. This smells of dog doo.
