A Norfolk man has claimed a winning $25,000 ticket in the Virginia Lottery’s Virginia New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.

Khalid Muhammad told lottery officials he doesn’t usually play, but decided to buy a ticket when he saw a line of people waiting at the 7-Eleven at 1928 N. Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake, according to the lottery’s website.

He said he plans he plans to pay bills with the money.

His ticket was one of six $25,000 winners. Last month, the lottery announced that a Hampton woman also had claimed one of the tickets. The others were purchased in Burke, Richmond, Glen Allen and Clear Brook. Three tickets worth the $1 million top prize were bought in Clarksville, Great Falls and Stuarts Draft.

About 300 tickets won the $500 prize.
