Packers' Rodgers to host 'Saturday Night Live'? Giants' Jacobs to Gisele: 'shut up'

Posted to: NFL Super Bowl

Word out of the Super Bowl is that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is interested in hosting "Saturday Night Live."

Rodgers said on his weekly radio show that he talked to some cast members from "SNL" while in Indianapolis and is hopeful. (He also said Tuesday he still stands by his comments on the Pro Bowl, by the way.)

Rodgers said NBC's Dick Ebersol told him that he had a future in broadcasting and that his role in the network's pregame coverage Sunday was increased based on his performance during rehearsals.

We already know the newly minted NFL MVP is fast on his feet, and he also could put his "discount double check" skills to use on the sketch comedy show.

Starting with Minnesota Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton in 1977 and most recently with former NBA great Charles Barkley last month (for the third time overall), quite a few athletes have given it a shot. Others include tennis player Andy Roddick, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and NBA star LeBron James.

If Rodgers gets the gig, wonder what the over/under will be on how long it takes before someone on the show pops up wearing a cheesehead?

Speaking of one-liners, Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has no problems speaking his mind, and at Tuesday's Super Bowl celebration party, he hurled one at New England quarterback Tom Brady's wife.

Gisele Bundchen, you'll recall, was annoyed with the Patriots receivers in the aftermath of their 21-17 loss to the Giants.

Asked about Bundchen's comments, Jacobs reportedly replied: "She just needs to continue to be cute and shut up," the New York Post said.

According to The New York Times, Giants teammate Osi Umenyiora was more diplomatic: "She's supposed to stay out of things like that. But at the end of the day, that's their relationship and she's entitled to say whatever she wants to."

Bundchen wasn't the only one critical of the Patriots' receivers: 8,000 Butterfinger candy bars were left for the Patriots in the city's Copley Square.

leave it at work, Jacobs

now you're talking about a man's wife.

You won, had your parade, being fitted for another ring....

Let it go.

Was she out of line? Yea, probably. But its not your place to talk to her like that.
