NORFOLK

A bullet grazed one person in a shooting this morning outside a Granby Street club.

The shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. outside Velvet Lounge after a fight that began inside the business continued out on the street, according to Karen Parker-Chesson, police spokeswoman. The person who fired was part of a group of people who were asked to leave the club, according to a police incident report.

The bullet struck a 37-year-old man who was standing in the 200 block of Granby, according to a police incident report. The round went through his clothing and bruised his thigh.

After the shooting, the person who fired the weapon fled the scene and headed north in a white or silver vehicle, according to the report. Police found no shell casings at the scene.

Police have released no suspect information.

The club is located at 332 Granby St. In August, the city issued the club's manager 10 criminal summonses on a range of charges that included having more people inside than legally allowed, having a locked fire exit, using extension cords as permanent wiring and violations of its liquor license.

The case is pending in General District Court, according to online records.
