Residents of Rotunda condo allowed back after arsons

NORFOLK

Residents of The Rotunda condo building have been allowed to return home as investigators continue looking into who set five fires in late January and early February.

The arsons forced evacuations from the downtown building and frightened residents in 56 occupied condos.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue has reviewed a security plan; the building's electrical system passed inspection, prompting the fire department to take down yellow tape around the building Friday afternoon, a spokesman said.

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation. Authorities believe a serial arsonist is responsible.
