Rigell risks unpopularity
RE 'VARIED VIEWS greet Rigell after switch on tax pledge,' front page, Jan. 31: Rep. Scott Rigell has honored the 'pledge' to work extremely hard, both for his district and for our nation. He has not been an absentee legislator, content to be wined and dined by lobbyists and special interests. He votes his conscience. He promised to read every bill he votes on. He not only reads every bill, he has the courage to do so with an open mind. His decisions are not politically correct and have greatly angered most tea party supporters.
By refusing to be held hostage by Grover Norquist, Rigell has done the right thing, which often is the hardest thing to do.

Mr Rigells decision
I applaud Mr Rigells decision to rethink theses subsidies and how much money they cost the American taxpayer. I hear all the time about the free market, well how can you call these industries that when their bottom line is influenced so heavily by the subsidies. Isnt that government interference? I wasnt a supporter of Mr Rigell before, voted against him. But like him I can change my mind too
