VIRGINIA BEACH

The driver of a motor scooter was killed early Thursday when he struck a Jeep on Princess Anne Road, police said.

Frank A. Fiumefreddo, 36, of the 2600 block of Alamance Circle in Virginia Beach, was driving a Jiangsu scooter north about 6:45 a.m., according to a police news release. He hit the side of a 2009 Jeep Compass turning left from Curry Comb Court onto southbound Princess Anne Road.

The scooter might not have had its headlight on at the time of the predawn crash, police said.

Fiumefreddo suffered internal injuries and was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver of the Jeep was not reported injured.

Police continue investigating, and the commonwealth's attorney's office will screen the case for possible charges, according to the release.
