Solving the mystery: What's that pill in your closet?
Who hasn’t come across a “mystery pill” in their medicine cabinet, maybe from some distant illness or being consumed by a family member, and wondered what it was and whether or not to pitch it or keep it? Have no fear; help is on the way! There are many websites that can help you find out what that little pill is without too much effort.
“Drugs.com” (http://www.drugs.com/) has a free online self help step by step process that only requires you to agree to their terms to use it. Obviously, no one wants to be ultimately responsible for telling you what something is without complete testing and/or review by a medical professional, but at least this process will help you get started. From just identifying the shape, color and possible markings the step by step process of identifying a pill has been made easy.
The “pro’s and con’s” of discovering the identity of a mystery pill will leave you with one of two dilemmas; keep or throw it away. All medicine has a shelf life and an application for use that is effective with its consumption. If the medicine prescribed isn’t taken as directed then re-taking it may cause more harm than benefit. Finishing a prescription is vital to your health and could be dangerous to your health if you take then stop mid-stream during your prescribed medication, so before you do, seek the advice of your doctor or nurse practionier.
Quick Tips for Wellness: Never consume what you can’t identify and/or hasn’t been prescribed by a medical professional.

PROS AND CONS
Toss 'em, if they've been there long enough to be mysterious. NO PROS for keeping potential "accidents waiting to happen" in any med cabinet. Just one gal's opinion, Pat!
Before you toss....solve the mystery
I fully agree, however, sometimes there are many other issues to consider before you throw the baby out with the bath water. Is the medicine being consumed by another member of your household and what are the potential side effects? Was the pill taken out of it's original container and put into a pill dispenser? I'd rather know before I throw....
