Top seeds win in first round of TCIS event

Norfolk Christian 73, Hampton Roads 48

Latrice Hunter, three days after becoming the Ambassadors' all-time leading scorer, had 26 points in a conference tournament quarterfinal Tuesday night.

Hunter, a junior, scored 21 points in a win over Miller School on Saturday to top the school's career list. She has 1,497 career points.

Danielle Webster scored a game-high 27 points and added nine rebounds and nine assists for the Ambassadors (16-7), who will host Norfolk Academy in Thursday's 7 p.m. semifinal.

Norfolk Academy 50, Bishop Sullivan 27

Riley Tata tallied 21 points and 11 steals for the Bulldogs (19-6).

Rachel Snarr had five blocks and six rebounds for Norfolk Academy.

Cape Henry 64, Walsingham 14

Ashanti Kennedy (14 points, 13 rebounds) and Alexis Smith (11 points, 7 steals) powered the Dolphins (21-3) to a quarterfinal win.

The Dolphins will face Norfolk Collegiate in Thursday's 5:30 p.m. semifinal at Norfolk Christian.

Khajae Hester had five assists for Cape Henry, which earned its 18th consecutive victory.

Norfolk Collegiate 65, Nansemond-Suffolk 44

Raven Evans and Briana Hale scored 21 points apiece for the Oaks (11-10), who pulled away after leading by three at halftime.

Norfolk Christian 47, Norfolk Collegiate 44

George Wahee scored a game-high 12 points and the Ambassadors (11-10) edged the Oaks.

Norfolk Christian will host Cape Henry in Friday's 5:30 p.m. semifinal.

Norfolk Collegiate's Sean Peterson, who had 11 points and three 3s, missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Ambassadors led by 10 most of the game, but missed free throws allowed the Oaks to pull closer.

Cape Henry 72, Norfolk Academy 40

Andrew Langston (17), Jimmy Paige (15), and Devon Hall (12) each scored in double-figures in the top-seeded Dolphins' quarterfinal victory.

Cape Henry (22-4) led 34-11 at halftime.

Bishop Sullivan 66, Hampton Roads 48

Marcus Burwell registered 17 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks as the Crusaders cruised.

Vince Miles added a game-high 21 points for Bishop Sullivan, which will face Walsingham in Friday's 7 p.m. semifinal at Norfolk Christian.

Walsingham beat Greenbrier Christian 88-38.

Metro Conference

Alliance Christian 66, Denbigh Baptist 39

Kevin Poole recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Falcons won a play-in game and will host Williamsburg Christian in Thursday's 3:45 p.m. quarterfinal.
