Weather: Clearing skies with highs in the 40s

By Craig Moeller

Mostly cloudy skies this morning will clear out though the day.

Temperatures will remain on the cool side of normal, generally reaching the mid to upper 40s.

Winds have gusted to 45 mph this morning along the Outer Banks. Tides are running about 1 1/2 feet above normal, so minor tidal flooding near high tides this morning has been a concern. There may also be some minor beach erosion before the winds and surf ease a bit this afternoon.

Expect mainly clear conditions tonight with lows into the lower 30s near the coast, upper 20s inland.

Tuesday will be warmer with highs in the mid 50s. There is a chance of a stray shower Tuesday afternoon. Warmer temperatures will build across the region through the middle of the week.
