Remember Kirk Mastromatteo?

Figured some of you might find this one interesting. Former NSU offensive coordinator Kirk Mastromatteo, who spent five years at Norfolk State, applied for a head coaching job at Booker High School (Sarasota) this offseason.

According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune (http://www.htpreps.com/news/article/35683/cardinal-mooney-coach-smithers-a-finalist-for-booker-head-football-coaching-job/) Mastromatteo was one of seven finalists for the job and is currently offensive coordinator for a team in Italy.

Mastromatteo worked with head coach Pete Adrian for a long time, and their split seemed harmonious enough, so it would have been nice for NSU to have a head coach in one of its main recruiting areas. Unfortunately for Mastromatteo, he was beaten out for the job by another man with MEAC and Hampton Roads connections, Carlos Woods.

Woods was a three-year starter with Delaware State and an assistant coach at Landstown and with the Indianaplis Colts, according to the Herald-Tribune (http://htpreps.com/news/article/35699/football-new-coach-carlos-woods-aims-high-for-booker/). Maybe Delaware State will have a new Florida connection.
