Waggin' Tails

Wondering what you can do with your dog in Hampton Roads? Get the answers here. I'll be discussing dog care, nutrition, training, play, and games to play with your dog.

Pet owners should be well informed when it comes to caring for their pet. Recalls on food ingredients, brand name foods, and toys make it necessary for pet parents to have information. But there is so much information it would make your head spin. Angie has a knack for getting and sorting this information. Having run two pet related businesses and having rescued two dogs so far, she has years of experience in pet care and training. This is a busy weekend but I hope you all can spend time with ones you love and celebrate Easter. I usually get confused in April. I see that rescues and shelter attend Cause for Paws but they have different dates and locations. I always thought someone had to have the wrong information. I finally got it! I had the wrong information! There are 2 events with the same name in 2 different locations during the same month.

The first Cause for Paws is an adoptathon for local rescues and shelters and also an artisan market. It will be at the Fairfield Shopping Center at Kempsville and Providence Roads. You can find a new furry friend and check out all the goodies from 10 until 2. There will be a vendor village, corn hole, dog friendly contests, and adoptable pets from at least 10 shelters and rescues. So go have fun with your dog!

Southern States in Gloucester is having an Easter Egg Hunt and Celebration tomorrow from 10 to 2. You can get photos of your kids with the Easter bunny and some really bunnies too. Store details are at www.southernstates.com/gloucester. The store is located at 6766 Main Street in Gloucester.

Animal Aid Society will be at the Oyster Point Care A Lot tomorrow from 11 to 5. They’re bringing the Easter Bunny and you can get pictures of your pets with the big bunny. If I had a ride and the money, I would be taking Lily and Sunny. Photos are $6 each or 2 for $10.

PAWS of Hertford County will have adoptable pets out meeting everyone tomorrow. You can meet them at the Greenbrier PetsMart from 10 to 2. You can get a head start by filling out an online adoption application at www.pawsofhertfordcounty.org.

Currituck Animal Shelter is having their 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow at the shelter. There will be activities and prizes for all ages. The event starts at 12. The shelter is located at 140 Aviation Parkway in Barco.

That’s it for this weekend. I didn’t list all the rescues and shelter attending Cause for Paws but it’s a big event. Hope you get a chance to go check it out. You may find a new furry best friend and pick up some gifts. Besides Easter, there are 2 or 3 more holidays coming up as well as graduations. You can pick up gift items and help the local shelters and rescues at the same time. Have fun!
