Waggin' Tails

Wondering what you can do with your dog in Hampton Roads? Get the answers here. I'll be discussing dog care, nutrition, training, play, and games to play with your dog.

Pet owners should be well informed when it comes to caring for their pet. Recalls on food ingredients, brand name foods, and toys make it necessary for pet parents to have information. But there is so much information it would make your head spin. Angie has a knack for getting and sorting this information. Having run two pet related businesses and having rescued two dogs so far, she has years of experience in pet care and training. For questions or comments, you can contact her at bigdogmom@mailpuppy.com.

It is the season! Kitten and puppy season! And yard sale season! I love all 3 but our local shelters and rescue need our help to take care of all the kittens and puppies coming in.

I know all of them need fosters who can care for mammas and babies. And they need fosters who can bottle feed orphaned babies. If you can’t foster, maybe you can donate some Kitten Milk Replacer or Puppy Formula and some bottles. The local pet supply stores carry everything needed. All the local shelters and rescues have Amazon wish lists too. You can donate an item or 2 and it will be delivered to the shelter. You don’t even need to leave home!

If you do want to leave home, check out the yard sales. Rescues and shelters are having yard sales to bring in funds for things that don’t usually get donated. You can find a treasure and help the animals too!

Heritage Humane Society is having a Spring Fling fundraiser on Sunday. Just head over to Retro Daddio in Williamsburg, get some great food, listen to music by the Billy Jack Duo, and enter some raffles. Proceeds go to HHS. This is a good chance to get gifts and help the animals too. Hope For Life is located at 610 Jack Rabbit Road in Virginia Beach. The event runs from 1 to 5.

K9 Justice League is having a fundraiser on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Make plans to have dinner with family and friends at Chipotle Mexican Grill in the Lynnhaven Mall shopping center.
