I’m really back! I love technology when it works. And, I really hate it when ot doesn’t work. I think hard drives should be made so they don’t crash. They need to be pet proof too. Two weeks with no computer while the hard drive is being replace is no fun. But, I did get most of my Christmas gifts made.
Suffolk Animal Care is having adoption events this weekend. You can meet some of the shelter dogs tomorrow at the Chesapeake Square PetsMart from 12 to 3. Or, you can meet them at the Suffolk Petsmart on College Drive from 12 to 3 on Sunday. You can always go by the shelter and meet a new best friend too. It’s located at 124 Forest Glen Drive.
Animal Aid Society will be at the Bodacious Bazaar this weekend. Stop by and say “Hi!” while you’re there.
Chesapeake Animal Services is having a birthday party for Nestle tomorrow from 10 to 1. They would really like to cancel it though. Nestle has been at the shelter for a year now waiting for his forever family to come. Maybe thsy’ll come tomorrow. Tell your friends and go party with Nestle! The shelter is located at 2100 South Military Highway.
The Bunny Hutch is having a birthday party tomorrow too. Lord Roland Watson Beldon Maxwell VIII (aka Jr.), America’s biggest bunny, will be 3 tomorrow. So, they’re having a birthday at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center in the Cape Henry Room. You can get a photo with Jr., play some birthday games, enjoy some cake, and enter the birthday raffle. Admission is free but gifts, including money, will be appreciated. You could bring fresh greens like collards, kale, cilantro, basil and parsley. Or maybe timothy hay toys, small rodent wheels, reptile items like water dishes, hides, heat lamps, heat pads, and small travel carriers. Go have a good time and help The Bunny Hutch!
Virginia Beach SPCA and Commonwealth Brewing Company are having Pints for Pups on Sunday from 1 to 4. There will be great food, craft beer, live music, give-aways, and more. Tickets are $28 at the door and all proceeds benefit the VBSPCA. Commonwealth Brewing company is located at 2444 Pleasure House Road in Virginia Beach.
O’Conner Brewing is hosting the Hot Break Homebrew Tournament on Sunday from 12 to 4. There is a suggested donation for admission. Bring your used towels, bath mats, blankets, fleece blankets, flat sheets, and comforters for the shelter pets at Norfolk SPCA. Monetary gifts are accepted too! O’Conner Brewing is located at 211 West 24th Street in Norfolk.
Isle of Wight County Humane Society may be out with some adoptable pets on Sunday. Look for them at the North Suffolk Petco from 12 to 4.
A Taste of Heaven Sanctuary will have several dogs and kittens out meeting everyone tomorrow. You can meet them at the Williamsburg Petco from 12 to 4. This little rescue does a lot of work with the Charles City County animal shelter and they need our support.
Rainbow Animal Rescue will be out with the dogs tomorrow. You can meet them at the Diamond Springs Road Care A Lot from 12 to 3.
The Outer Banks SPCA is having a special adoption fee for little feline friends through Saturday. You can adopt a kitten, 4 months to 1 year old, for just $16. And you can meet some of them at the Nags Head PetsMart tomorrow from 10 to 2. You can also stop by the shelter and meet a new friend. It’s at 1031 Driftwood Drive in Manteo.
SPCA of Northeastern North Carolina has a special for active and retired military members and their families. You can adopt a friend for no charge with a military ID through Sunday. You can also partner with pets for patriots and get some great perks when you adopt. So stop by the shelter at 102 Enterprise Drive in Elizabeth City and find a new friend.
Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter is having an off-site adoption event tomorrow. You can meet some of the shelter pets at the Newport News PetsMart from 11 to 3.
GO Rescue is having a Bingo fundraiser tonight at VFW Post 4809 at 5728 Bartee Street in Norfolk. It’s a multi-vendor bingo with some great prizes. Doors open at 5:30 and games start at 6:30. You get 20 games for $20 and refreshments are available for purchase.
Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary will be at the Poquoson Farm Fresh tomorrow from 9 to 1. They’ll have t-shirts, tumbler cups, koosies, and all kinds of goodies you purchase. Funds are needed to care for all the kittens they took in this year. It has been a busy kitten season!
Saver of Souls is having an adoption event on Sunday. You can meet some of the adoptable pets at the Zoom Room from 1 to 4.
Wasserhund Brewing Company is hosting the 3rd annual Beer, Dogs, and Veterans with Dogs on Deployment tomorrow from 12 to 6. Admission is free but you need a ticket to drink. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or at https://www.squadup.com/events/beer-dogs-and-veterans. There will be food, beer, music, silent auctions, and vendors, 4 Paws Animal Rescue will have a tent there too. Wasserhund Brewing Company is located at 1805 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach.
