The Glass Wheel Studio is having its grand-opening celebration from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The contemporary art studio is housed in a recently renovated older building in the heart of the Norfolk arts district.
The event will showcase the inaugural exhibition, “Provenance,” which features works by glass artist Jon Goldberg, mixed-media artist Natalie Abrams and a 71-piece neon installation by Liz Berk.
The 8,500-square-foot space will house two rotating galleries and a Studio Artist program that will provide research opportunities and professional development each year to selected participants. Members of the 2015-2016 program will be on hand during the grand opening.
The event is free with a cash bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres from Omar’s Carriage House and music by DJ Tmobyle. The studio will also be accepting donations to support the arts district.
The studio is located at 128 W. Olney Road. For more information, visit www.glasswheelstudio.com or bit.ly/GWSGrandOpening.
