Cypress Point Country Club
Semi-Private Course. This scenic course provides beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay. The narrow fairways are tree lined, and the small greens are fast. In 1993, the club played host to the LPGA Exhibition Tournament.
Bay Creek Golf Club
Semi-private. One of the region's newest course sports four holes on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, eight holes on old Plantation Creek and several holes framed by giant sand dunes. The 7,200-yard championship course offers 5 sets of tees for players of all skill levels.
Cahoon Plantation
Semi-private. This golf facility offers three 9-hole courses that are played in three 18-hole combinations, and a separate 18-hole pitch-n-putt course. The layout is very similar to a Scottish-links course. Course features no trees, but is long, challenging and fair.
Chesapeake Golf Club
Chesapeake Golf Club is a 6241-yard, Par 71, 18 hole semi-private golf course, located just 15 minutes from downtown Norfolk.
Greenbrier Country Club
Private Course. This Scottish links-style course has many pot bunkers protecting its greens. The undulating greens are fast, and the narrow fairways are tree lined. There are water hazards that come into play on eight holes.
Chowan Golf and Country Club
Semi-Private Course. The greens on the back nine are rather large, whereas the newly renovated greens on the front nine are somewhat smaller. There are 11 ponds and wetlands that come into play on 10 holes. The fairways are mostly flat with some undulations and mounds that can affect play.
Pines Golf Course
Military Course. This facility uses Courses #1 and #3 to play an eighteen hole combination, while players who want to play nine holes use Course #2. All three courses are built on predominantly flat terrain, but a couple of the fairways are
Gloucester Country Club
Public Course. One of the oldest courses in Hampton Roads, the Gloucester Golf Course is flat and easy to walk. Water hazards come into play on four holes. Approximately fifteen greenside sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design.
The Hamptons Golf Course
Public Course. This municipal course has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. The Links Course has open fairways and large greens. The Woods Course has tree-lined fairways and small greens. The Lakes Course has tight, tree-lined fairways and small, undulating greens.
Woodlands Golf Course
Public Course. The flat design features tree-lined fairways and well-bunkered greens. There are water hazards that come into play on several holes, and many sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design. Ed Ault redesigned this course in 1972. Senior discounts are only good during the weekdays.
Langley AFB/Eaglewood Golf Course - BlueCourse
Military Course. Eaglewood sports two outstanding 18-hole courses. The Gold Course has tight fairways and fast greens. The Blue Course has open fairways and small greens. Many trees, water hazards and bunkers come into play throughout the course. Only military personnel or government employees may play the course. Guests may play if they are sponsored by a government employee or military personnel.
Colonial Golf Course
Public Course. The course winds through hardwood forests and tidal marshes, completely devoid of real estate development. Five sets of tees (4568 to 6885 yards) accommodate players of all skill levels. The Colonial offers the only year-round Golf Academy in the state. Featured are a large grass-teed practice range, an indoor teaching facility with video analysis, and a practice course with 3 regulation length holes (a par 3, 4, and 5).
Golden Horseshoe -- The Spotswood Executive Course
Resort Course. This resort -- named in ''Golf Magazine's'' 1998 list of Gold Medal Resorts - features two 18-hold courses plus a difficult 9-hole executive course, the Spotswood Executive.
Riverfront Golf Course
Semi-Private Course. Designer Tom Doak sculpted the beautiful 6,735-yard layout to take full advantage of the natural beauty surrounding it. Tees are typically at ground level, the fairways are generally wide and friendly, and chipping areas are plentiful. Large deep bunkers, combined with undulating greens make shot-making crucial. All but three of the 18 holes are bordered on one side by natural features, whether tidal marshes skirting along its fairways or undulating greens at waters edge with beach bunkers on three sides. Mature pines, oaks and sycamores overhang the marsh, adding beauty and majesty to the design.
The Signature at Westneck
Semi-Private Course. This 7002 yard, par 72 Championship course features Tifsport Bermuda tees and fairways and A-4 bent grass greens. Thirteen lakes and several natural wetlands accent the wooded and landscaped terrain. Five sets of tees make the course fun for golfers of all skill levels.
Bide-a-Wee Golf Course
Public Course. The original Bide-A-Wee layout featured extremely narrow and small greens that fell off severely on the sides. Tom Clark of Ault, Clark & Associates and Curtis Strange have done a masterful job of keeping the original hole corridors and the feeling of narrow green approaches yet the green square footage necessary to accommodate a busy public golf course. Strategically placed sand bunkers, waste areas and grass bunkers add interesting features to the course. The eight ponds were built to adequately drain the course and provide water hazards on ten different holes. Although thousands of pine trees were removed from the site, almost every fairway is lined with stately pines that form jail bars for wayward shots.
Heron's Ridge Golf Course
Public Course. The front nine of this course is links-style, while the back nine is wooded, featuring several tree-lined fairways. The greens are large and complex, while the surrounding bunkers are strategically challenging.
Honey Bee Golf Club
Public Course. This extremely difficult course features water hazards coming into play on ten holes. The greens are elevated and protected by immense sand bunkers. The fairways are tree lined, and the greens are fast.
Kempsville Greens Golf Club
Public Course. This course's front nine offers wide yet well-bunkered fairways, while its back nine affords even larger landing areas in its fairways. Water hazards come into play on several holes. Tee times are only reserved for the weekends.
The championship tees measure 5,843 yards with Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens, featuring a challenging back nine with numerous bunkers and water hazards. Golf carts, pull carts and golf clubs are available for rental. Golf apparel and equipment is available in the Pro Shop. Private and group golf lessons with PGA golf professionals may be scheduled.
Lake Wright Golf Course
Public Course. This course was built on an island in the middle of Lake Wright. The greens are elevated and fast, while the fairways are fairly wide and flat. Water hazards on seven holes and an abundance of sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the course.
Newport News Golf Club
Public Course. Two regulation 18-hole courses sport this facility. The Cardinal Course showcases tree-lined fairways and fast, tricky greens.The Deer Run Championship Course presents open fairways and tightly bunkered greens.
Ocean View Golf Course
Public Course. This scenic course is located next to Chesapeake Bay. The fairways are tree lined, and the greens are small. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, plus numerous greenside and fairway sand bunkers have been positioned throughout the course.
Owl's Creek Family Golf Course
Public Course. Try and master this tough executive course. Shots are challenged by giant pine, oak and cypress trees, natural and man-made water hazards as well as towering 40-foot sand dunes. Water hazards come into play on twelve holes.
Red Wing Lake Golf Course
Public Course. This 60's-era course features water hazards that come into play on nine holes and three par 3's at over 200 yards each. The club held the Virginia PGA Open in 1974.
The championship tees measure 7,080 yards with Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens located on 265 acres of beautiful wooded terrain. Golf carts, pull carts and golf clubs are available for rental. Golf apparel and equipment is available in the Pro Shop (437-2037). Private and group golf lessons with PGA golf professionals may be scheduled. Snack bar facilities are available for breakfast and lunch. Hours of operation once we reopen are 6:30 a.m. - sunset Mon. to Fri. and 6 a.m. to sunset Sat. and Sun.
Sleepy Hole Golf Course
Public Course. This course features tree-lined fairways and large greens. Water hazards come into play on five holes. Carts are mandatory on weekends and holidays, and this club considers Friday as part of the weekend.
Stumpy Lake Golf Course
Public Course. The fairways are tree lined, and the greens are large. Water hazards come into play on four holes.
Tournament Players Club
Public Course. This 18-hole course features a mixture of flat terrain with rolling hills and wooded areas. The fairways are generous, just a few are tree-lined. The greens are medium-sized with vast undulation. Water hazards come into play on nine holes.
Cypress Creek Golfers' Club
Semi-Private Course. With rolling hills and lots of trees, players can easily escape here. This course features 9 water hazards in ten holes. Sixty bunkers guard the greens of this beautiful but challenging layout. Each hole was uniquely designed, hence no signature hole.
Ford's Colony -- Blackheath Course
Semi-Private Course. Blackheath Course features an island tee on the par 3 3rd and a daunting island green on the 18th. Water defends on 13 holes, while rolling terrain allows enough elevation to energize tee shots, yet is agreeable enough to negotiate with a pull cart.
Ford's Colony - Blue Heron Course
Semi-Private Course. These twin regulation eighteen hole resort courses were built on rolling hills and feature tall pines. Blue/Gold Course has open fairways and greens that are undulating. Several holes have water hazards. Bunkers spread throughout the entire course.
Ford's Colony -- Marsh Hawk
Semi-Private Course. These three regulation eighteen hole resort courses were built on rolling hills and feature tall pines. Ponds come into play on several holes. Each cart is equipped with the Pro Link GPS system and full color monitor.
Hell's Point Golf Club
Semi-Private Course. Sixty-one sand bunkers and several lakes come into play throughout this challenging course. Nestled between Virginia Pines, the fairways are narrow and the greens are complex. The fees indicated include all taxes.
Mill Run Golf Club
Semi-Private Course. The classic Mill Run Golf Club is conveniently located fifteen minutes from Chesapeake Virginia and forty-five minutes from Kitty Hawk North Carolina in the community of Eagle Creek just East of Moyock North Carolina off Hwy 168.
Nansemond River Golf Club
Semi-Private Course. The course plays to a par of 72 and features five set of tees ranging from 5,171 to 7,307 yards, thus offering options for players of all abilities. Hybrid Bermuda fairways and USGA bent grass greens cater to the most avid golfer.
The Traditional Golf Club at Kiskiack
Semi-Private Course. Located minutes from downtown Williamsburg, Kiskiack features rolling hills, a few doglegs and fairly open fairways. Water hazards and bunkers come into play consistently. Greens are medium-sized and fairly complex. Only club members may walk the course.
Williamsburg National Golf Club
Semi-Private Course. This championship course plays through a hardwood forest where an old saw mill once stood. Fairways are open, and greens are fast. Water hazards on 7 holes. Toughest is #16, a 202-yard, par 3, with lengthy elevation drop and tee shot over wetland to a large green.

Resort Course. The Green Course was selected by ''Golf Digest'' as the 9th Best in State course for 1995-96 and 8th best for 1997-98. Water hazards come into play on every course.

Resort Course. The Gold Course has tight, rolling fairways and plays around a five-acre lake, across ravines and through woodland glens. The large greens are notorious for three putts. This course features dramatic changes in elevation, so expect some interesting lies.
Kiln Creek Golf & Country Club
Resort Course. Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort's 18 hole championship course is one of the finest tests of golf in the state of Virginia. The 6,972 yard, par 72 layout was designed by the highly respected architect Tom Clark. Golf Digest stated Kiln Creek is "one of the five best golf courses in the state of Virginia," and recognized the course as being one of the top 100 new courses in America when it opened. The 8th hole is recognized as one of the Mid-Atlantic region's best par 4 holes by Tee Time Magazine.Players of all skill levels will enjoy playing Kiln Creek.

Resort Course. Kingsmill’s newest course is the Woods Course. Front nine has open fairways and the back nine is very hilly. One of the toughest holes is #3, a 412-yard, par 4. Holes #12 and #15 share the same green with a sand bunker in the middle.
Broad Bay Country Club
Private Course. This course, built on flat terrain, is easy to walk. It features large greens. Furthermore, water hazards come into play on a few holes.
Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club
Private Course. Built in 1928, the course showcases narrow fairways and tightly bunkered greens. Several dog-legs are featured throughout the course.
Cedar Point Country Club
Private Course. This 18-hole champtionship course is located on the banks of the Nansemond River is Par 72. Plus there's a 9-hole par 3 course.
Elizabeth Manor Country Club
Private Course. This course has deep sand bunkers and a few water hazards. The tight fairways are tree lined, and the small greens are fast.
James River Country Club
Private Course. This exceptional course features fast greens and tree-lined fairways.
Princess Anne Country Club
Private Course. This course features narrow fairways and small greens. Water hazards come into play on many holes. Guests are not allowed to play without the presence of a club member.
Aeropines Golf Course
Military Course. This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. The courses vary in design, featuring both links and traditional styles. Some of the fairways are open, but all the greens are small. In addition, water hazards come into play on all three courses, plus several sand and grass bunkers were positioned on the fairways and around the greens.

Military Course. The Eagle Haven Championship Golf Course features an 18-hole championship course, pro shop, driving range, and three PGA certified golf professionals available for lessons and pointers.

Virginia Beach National
Virginia Beach National opened in May of 1999 as the premier public golf course in the Tidewater Area. A Pete Dye Design with assistance from Hall of Famer Curtis Strange, VB National is a masterful blend of natural grasses, waste areas, rolling fairways and "tour quality" greens. The course has hosted some of the best players in the world over in past years as the host of the NATIONWIDE TOUR’s Virginia Beach Open. This Par 72 course stretches to well over 7200 yards from the Championship Tees and can offer you all the challenge you want, however, five sets of tees insure you the ability to find your "comfort zone."
