Video

Here is a video that I have been asked to post. Permission has been given to show this video. I think you will agree it is worth watching--especially if you are military. One more thing to be thankful for--our wonderful veterans. Please click on the part with Tammy Duckworth as that is the part that will be appreciated most.

Unexpected Blessings

I have been away from my blog with good reason. I promised my blog readers once I was comfortable I would share something. Well, last spring I found out our family was expecting baby number 3. Those of you who read my blog know that pregnancy is difficult due to health issues as well as terrifying for me. In anticipation of the big event, It was very difficult to write about anything at all.

McCain's Vice Presidential pick

I have been patiently waiting to see who McCain would choose for Vice President, and I am pleasantly surprised by his choice. As Governor of Alaska she has a good track record and the community there really seems to love her. She is pro life-she has 5 children total. She also could possibly be the first woman Vice President. I think this election year is about to get very exciting!

Go Gamecocks

We have just gotten back in the swing of things. We are back at school, and there is a hint of Fall in the air. I am enjoying the season--I love this time of year--when we get on a more set schedule, with warm days and cool nights. I like the appearance of school supplies and pumpkins in stores. It seems to also remind me how fast time flies and FAll football.

Recognition ceremonies

There are milestones for everyone in the service. When you make Chief, Commander, pass an important exam. There are times when you are at sea and you just celebrate with our shipmates and times when your whole family is included.

Summer makes me happy

Okay, I am one of those weird people who enjoys summer and having lots of time to spend with the kids. We do the mandatory stuff like kid's dentists and Dr.'s appointments. We also have a lot of fun too. The fun for us is swimming in the pool late on summer evening, or catching ladybugs. We eat lots of ice cream and too much chick- fil- a.

Where is it safe

I have been away for a while because I could not sign on to m blog. I am finally able to write again---good. Now there have been some issues that weigh heavily on my mind here. I find Norfolk to be a big city, and with big cities you tend to get more crime.

Life lessons

I remember when I was young and in a hurry to grow up, be independent and have constant freedom to make my own choices. Well, I grew up and I am starting to wonder what all the fuss is about. I have found that the older I get the more I think I know, the more curveballs get thrown my way. Are these life lessons that I need to learn?

Memorial day and reevaluating life

First, hope all are having a great memorial day weekend. I enjoy the three days off, and I like the parades, the veterans selling poppies. It gives meaning to memorial day. We have gone out in the boat(yes it has arrived), and cooked hot dogs. The kids have stayed up late and been outside almost all day, but what more could you ask for when you are little.
