Thousands attend Afr'Am Fest's 25th annual event

NORFOLK The annual Afr'Am Fest draws more than 200,000 people for music, art and food during the Memorial Day Weekend. This year was no different, as people packed Town Point Park so tightly it was difficult to walk through it at times. Police estimated that 120,000 people attended on Saturday and again Monday, said Mark C. Madison, the festival director.

A 'foolish tradition,' Norfolk's Doo Dah Parade, is back

NORFOLK Self-billed as "Norfolk’s most foolish tradition," the Occasional Downtown Doo Dah Parade is returning this year for its 11th edition, assuming anyone really is keeping count, which would seem to go against the tradition of bucking conformity. It is slated to commence at noon on March 28, stepping off on Main Street. And organizers are looking for participants.
