Country singer and guitarist Eric Church will take the stage sporting his signature ball cap and shades when his first headlining tour makes a stop at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk on Saturday.

Some of the first words of advice nearly every aspiring musician hears are: Have a fallback plan. But for Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Sonia Leigh, there has never been a Plan B. Her mantra was "succeed or starve." "I didn't have a choice," she said of her go-for-broke strategy. "I left home, I quit school, and I followed my heart."

Arlo Guthrie has spent the better part of the past 40 years on tour, but some spots along his journey are more memorable than others.

Not many rock acts have pulled off Tool's trick. The band took the dark elements of underground metal, placed them in an ambitious, artsy context and made it all accessible. Since making a splash in the early '90s, Tool has amassed a cult following that helped push albums such as "Undertow" and "Lateralus" past platinum sales.
